What’s On in May 2026 at Headway Huddersfield & District

May 2026 is shaping up to be a busy and enjoyable month at Headway Huddersfield & District, with a mix of in‑person and online activities designed to support people living with brain injury, along with their families and carers, across Calderdale and Kirklees. As always, new members are very welcome, whether you’re joining us for the first time or returning to a familiar session.

🎩 Wednesday 6 May – Drop‑In Session & Hats for Headway

We kick off May with our first Wednesday drop‑in session at Lindley Methodist Church Centre.

This session will have a fun and creative focus as we get ready for Hats for Headway Day. Members are invited to:

  • Bring a favourite hat

  • Make a hat during the session

  • Take photos wearing hats to help raise awareness for Headway

It’s a relaxed, sociable session where you can chat, create, and enjoy time with others who understand life after brain injury.

💬 Monday 11 May – Communication Café (New Date)

Due to the Bank Holiday, our Communication Café, kindly hosted by Rose Speech Therapy, will take place on the second Monday of the month.

This supportive session offers opportunities to practise communication skills in a friendly, pressure‑free environment, with guidance from speech and language professionals. It’s ideal for anyone experiencing communication changes after brain injury.

🧘 Thursday 14 May – Chair‑Based Yoga (Online)

Our second Thursday yoga session takes place online via Zoom, led by Michelle.

  • Balance and wellbeing

You can join from the comfort of your own home, making it accessible for those who prefer or need online sessions.

🌳 Wednesday 20 May – 3rd Wednesday Outing: Greenhead Park

Our third Wednesday outing takes us outdoors to Greenhead Park in Huddersfield, where we’ll be visiting Huddersfield Pétanque Club.
