Our committee met on 31 March 2026 to review upcoming activities, safeguarding matters, fundraising plans and preparations for our AGM. Here’s a quick round‑up of what’s happening across Headway Huddersfield & District.
🔒 Safeguarding Updates
Two ongoing cases were reviewed, with support being coordinated through legal and therapeutic routes. No new concerns were raised.
📅 AGM – Wednesday 1 April 2026
Final preparations are complete, including:

Catering and room setup
A post‑AGM poetry session led by Jenny
Committee changes were noted, with thanks to those stepping down and encouragement offered to members considering their roles.

March Review
Our planned cinema trip was disrupted by venue issues, but an alternative space was secured at Simply Moving and Sleeping in Elland. A future seasonal film event is being explored.
🤠 Summer Ball – 2 July 2026
Planning is well underway for our Wild West Casino Summer Ball at Greenhead Masonic Hall.

A professional line‑dancing instructor has been booked, and Early Bird tickets are available until 30 April.
🎓 Study Day – 30 September 2026 (TBC)
A site visit to the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre is scheduled. Catering and sponsorship options are being explored, with tickets expected to be £35.
💙 Fundraising & Grants
France & Associates will host their charity Golf Day again in September.
SP Therapy will run their virtual Coast‑to‑Coast challenge, with proceeds shared across branches.
Additional grant opportunities are being monitored.
A venue is being sourced for the Yorkshire Brain Injury Forum networking event.
📣 Other Updates
New pop‑up banners are still required.
The group business plan meeting will be rearranged.
Attendance statistics for 2025 were shared.
A thank‑you card will be signed at the AGM.
