Celebrating Volunteers at the Headway UK Branch Celebration Day
On Tuesday, our Chair Adrian, along with committee members and dedicated volunteers Ann and Tara, proudly represented Headway Huddersfield & District at the Headway UK Branch Celebration Day in Manchester.
This special event brought together volunteers and committee members from across the country to celebrate the incredible work being done by Headway’s volunteer-led branches. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect, reflect, and recognise the shared commitment to supporting brain injury survivors and their families.
The day began with a warm welcome from Luke Griggs, Chief Executive of Headway UK, who shared an inspiring overview of the charity’s Five-Year Strategy — outlining the vision and priorities that will shape the future of Headway’s work across the UK.
We then heard from Ruth Owens, Director of Services, who introduced the Network Support Team and gave a valuable insight into the many ways Headway UK supports its branches. From the national helpline, resource centre, and identity card scheme, to insurance, regional meetings, and access to publications, it was a powerful reminder of the infrastructure behind the local support we provide in Calderdale and Kirklees.
To round off the day, each volunteer was presented with a Certificate of Thanks in recognition of their service. We were especially proud to see our Chair, Adrian, honoured for an incredible 9 years of dedication to Headway Huddersfield & District — a milestone that reflects years of tireless commitment, compassion, and leadership. Tara was presented with her 2 year certificate of thanks and Ann for 3 years of volunteering.
We’re incredibly grateful to Headway UK for hosting such a meaningful event and to all our volunteers who continue to make a difference in the lives of those affected by brain injury.
Here’s to the power of community, collaboration, and continued support.
