A Cold War incident

Come along and join us at our 1st Wednesday of the month drop in on Wednesday 4th June 2025 taking place in the Lindley Methodist Church Hall on East Street in Lindley, Huddersfield from 7pm to 9pm.

We are being joined by Michael Reader talking about his book he has written titled "Once upon a Spy". He will be explaining about how a 21 year old from Derby is incarcerated by Soviet Intelligence services in Odessa in 1968. His story starts in 1947 and finishes up in 2018 to 2023. From suffering a stroke ending up with some aphasia and writing the book, delayed by a cancer diagnosis.

Michael came across our Vice-Chair, Gill Buckingham, to help him rebuild his language function. He had it in his mind for a number of years to put pen to paper and Gill urged him to write the book as part of his rehabilitation. The results of which you can find out more about on Wednesday 4th June 2025.

If you would like to attend please RSVP on our event page so we can ensure we can cater for everyone as we are also celebrating 21 years supporting brain injury survivors across Calderdale and Kirklees.

Our drop in session is open to brain injury survivors, their families and carers and anyone who has an interest in supporting brain injury survivors.
