September drop in session
1st Wednesday Drop‑In: Community, Conversation and New Connections – 2nd September 2026
Our September 1st Wednesday Drop‑In brought together a wonderful mix of familiar faces and new members at Lindley Methodist Church. From 7pm to 9pm, brain injury survivors, families, carers and supporters from across Calderdale and Kirklees joined us for an evening that blended learning, shared experience and plenty of fun.
This month, we were delighted to welcome two new members, Mandy and Rey, who joined us for the first time. It was fantastic to have you both with us, and we hope you felt the warmth and support of our Headway community right away.
We were also joined by Dr Corinne Fulcher, Lecturer in Optometry and Vision Science at the University of Huddersfield. Corinne is exploring the development of a specialist eye clinic for people who experience visual difficulties following a stroke or brain injury. She spent time speaking directly with our members, listening to their personal experiences and learning what support has previously been offered — whether in hospital or out in the community. Her commitment to shaping future services around lived experience was truly appreciated.
After the discussion, the evening took a lighter turn as everyone got involved in picture quizzes, a lively round of bingo, and a look ahead at our programme of events for the rest of the year. As always, the room was full of conversation, laughter and connection — the things that make our monthly sessions so special.
Our 1st Wednesday events are free, welcoming and open to anyone affected by brain injury, as well as those who simply want to support community across Calderdale and Kirklees. Whether you’re joining us for the first time or returning each month, you’ll always find a friendly space to connect, share and take part.
We look forward to seeing you at our next session — everyone is welcome.
