September 2026 at Headway Huddersfield & District: A Month of Connection, Confidence and Community

September brings a full and varied programme of activities for our Headway Huddersfield & District community. Whether you’re joining us for peer support, wellbeing, outdoor activities or professional learning, this month offers something for everyone — members, families, volunteers, and anyone with an interest in supporting people living with the effects of brain injury.


We’re proud to continue offering a mix of free sessions alongside our flagship Study Day, helping us reach people in ways that are accessible, enjoyable and meaningful.


1st Wednesday Drop‑In – Wednesday 2nd September, 7–9pm

Lindley Methodist Church Hall – Free Event

Our monthly in‑person drop‑in is a welcoming space to meet others, enjoy activities, share experiences and find support. New faces are always welcome, and there’s no need to book.


Communication Café – Monday 7th September, 10:30am–12 noon

Community Rooms, Greenhead Park – Free Event   Hosted by Rose Speech Therapy, this friendly session offers practical communication support for anyone affected by brain injury. It’s relaxed, informal and a great opportunity to build confidence in everyday communication.


Canoe Taster Day – Friday 11th September

Hollingworth Lake – Free Event

A chance to get out on the water and try something new. Our canoe taster day is suitable for all abilities, with support on hand throughout. It’s always a popular session and a brilliant confidence‑builder.


Online Yoga with Michelle – Thursday 10th September, 3:45pm–4:30pm

Online – Free Event

Michelle’s gentle, accessible yoga sessions continue to be a favourite. Join us online for 45 minutes of movement, balance and relaxation — ideal for wellbeing and recovery.


3rd Wednesday Outing: Archery – Wednesday 16th September, 6–7:30pm

Valley Bowmen of Huddersfield, Honley – Free Event

We’re heading to Honley for an evening of archery with the Valley Bowmen. This session is suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to those who’ve tried archery before. It’s a fun, supportive environment with expert guidance.


4th Wednesday Online Drop‑In – Wednesday 23rd September, 7–8pm

Online – Free Event

Our online drop‑in offers a friendly space to connect from home. Whether you want a chat, some support, or simply to see familiar faces, you’re very welcome.


Study Day – Wednesday 30th September, 12 noon–5pm

3M Buckley Innovation Centre, University of Huddersfield – £35 including lunch

We’re delighted to host our third Study Day, bringing together professionals, students, volunteers and anyone with an interest in brain injury rehabilitation and lived experience. The day includes expert speakers, interactive learning, and lunch. Booking is required.
