May 2026 Events

🌼 What’s On at Headway Huddersfield & District – May 2026

May is shaping up to be a busy and exciting month for Headway Huddersfield & District, with a mix of creative activities, wellbeing sessions, community events and opportunities to get involved. We also have a couple of important date changes, so please take a moment to check the updated schedule below.

🔄 Important Date Changes

To start, two of our regular sessions have moved this month:

  • Communication Café has shifted due to the May Day Bank Holiday

  • Michelle’s Chair‑Based Yoga has been brought forward by one week due to holidays

🎩 Wednesday 6 May – Drop‑In Session

Lindley Methodist Church | 7:00pm–9:00pm

We’re kicking off the month with a creative twist as we prepare for Hats 4 Headway Day on Friday 15 May. Bring a hat to decorate — or make one from scratch — and join us for a relaxed evening of crafting, conversation and community.

🧘 Thursday 7 May – Michelle’s Chair‑Based Yoga (Online)

3:45pm

This gentle, accessible session has moved forward by one week. Michelle will guide you through calming, seated movements designed to support wellbeing, flexibility and relaxation.

🗣️ Monday 11 May – Communication Café

Community Rooms, Greenhead Park | 10:30am

Hosted by Rose Speech Therapy, this friendly session is open to anyone who would benefit from support with communication following brain injury. A warm, welcoming space to practise skills and build confidence.

🌱 Saturday 16 May – Coffee Morning & Choir Concert

Lindley Methodist Church

We’re delighted to be part of this community event, where we’ll be hosting a Headway plant sale stand. It’s a great opportunity to meet local residents, raise awareness of our work and support brain injury survivors across Calderdale and Kirklees. Enjoy refreshments, music and a lovely community atmosphere.

🎯 Wednesday 20 May – 3rd Wednesday Outing: Try Pétanque

Huddersfield Pétanque Club, Greenhead Park | 11:15am

Join us for a fun introduction to pétanque — no experience needed. The club will guide us through the basics, making it a relaxed and enjoyable morning outdoors.

💬 Wednesday 27 May – Online Zoom Drop‑In

7:00pm–8:00pm

A friendly online space to catch up, chat and stay connected from the comfort of home.
