🌟 Join Us as a Volunteer Branch Secretary at Headway Huddersfield and District! 🌟

Are you an organised, proactive individual with a heart for helping others? Do you want to make a real difference in the lives of people affected by brain injury in your local community? If so, Headway Huddersfield and District would love to hear from you!


We’re currently looking for a voluntary Branch Secretary to join our dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the smooth running of our branch and support our mission to improve life after brain injury.


📝 What Does the Role Involve?

As Branch Secretary, you’ll be the backbone of our branch’s administration. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating meetings: Booking venues, arranging equipment and refreshments, and ensuring accessibility for all attendees.

  • Minute-taking: Recording and circulating minutes from committee and general meetings.

  • Communication hub: Acting as the main point of contact for both internal and external communications.

  • Document management: Handling vital documents and overseeing membership records.

  • Agenda preparation: Working closely with the Branch Chair to prepare and distribute meeting agendas.

  • Member engagement: Keeping in touch with committee members and the wider branch community.

  • AGM organisation: Planning and managing the Annual General Meeting in line with Headway UK policies.

  • Election oversight: Ensuring fair and transparent branch election processes.

  • Reporting: Completing and submitting all necessary returns to Headway UK on time.

  • Liaison with Headway UK: Maintaining regular contact to keep them informed of branch activities and developments.

  • Committee Meetings: These take place every six weeks by video call on a Tuesday at 6pm and last for around one hour.


🤝 What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who is:

  • Organised and detail-oriented

  • A confident communicator

  • Comfortable using email and basic office software

  • Passionate about supporting people affected by brain injury

  • Able to commit a few hours each month to the role

Previous experience in administration or committee work is helpful but not essential—we’ll support you every step of the way.
