Connecting Through Conversation: Headway Members Attend October’s Communication Café
Monday 6th October 2025 | Greenhead Park Community Room, Huddersfield
On a bright autumn morning, members and service users of Headway Huddersfield & District gathered at Greenhead Park’s Community Room for a special session of the Communication Café, kindly hosted by Rose Speech Therapy Services.
Held from 10:30am to 12 noon, this welcoming drop-in offered a relaxed and inclusive space for individuals navigating communication challenges following brain injury. Whether facing difficulty with speech clarity, word-finding, or forming sentences, attendees were met with warmth, understanding, and the opportunity to connect with others who share similar experiences.
The Communication Café, which runs on the first Monday of every month, is a free initiative designed to foster peer support and open conversation. With no pressure and no formal agenda, the café encourages attendees to share stories, practice communication strategies, and simply enjoy being heard.
For Headway members, the October session was a chance to build confidence, strengthen social bonds, and explore new ways of expressing themselves. The atmosphere was one of mutual respect and encouragement, with laughter, listening, and learning flowing freely.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Rose Speech Therapy Services for their kind invitation and continued commitment to accessible, community-based support. Initiatives like the Communication Café make a real difference—and we’re proud to be part of it.
