Branch VOICE

🤝 Strengthening Connections: Headway Huddersfield & District Joins Branch VOICE Meeting

On Wednesday 15 October, three of our committee members proudly represented Headway Huddersfield & District at the latest Headway UK Branch VOICE meeting, held online from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

These new bi-monthly catch-ups are open to all committee members and volunteers from Headway’s 60+ volunteer-led branches across the UK. Designed to be informal and welcoming, they offer a valuable space to share ideas, discuss challenges, and help shape the future of our branch network and the wider Headway community.

💬 What We Discussed

The October meeting focused on several key themes:

  • Volunteer recruitment: Sharing strategies and current needs across branches.

  • Celebrating success: Inspiring stories from local initiatives and events.

  • Branch promotion: Ideas included inviting local dignitaries—such as the High Sheriff—to attend meetings or drop-ins to raise awareness and support.

We left the meeting feeling energised and connected, with fresh ideas to bring back to our own community in Huddersfield and District.

📣 We’re Looking for a Branch Secretary

As part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen our team, we’re currently seeking a Branch Secretary to support our committee. This volunteer role involves:

  • Attending our online committee meetings every six weeks (approx. 1 hour)

  • Taking and sharing minutes to help us stay organised and focused

If you’re detail-oriented, passionate about supporting brain injury survivors, and want to make a meaningful impact—this could be a perfect fit.

🌟 Why It Matters

Being part of Headway means being part of a movement. These VOICE meetings remind us that while each branch is unique, we’re united by a shared mission: to support brain injury survivors, families, carers, and professionals with compassion, creativity, and collaboration.

We’re proud to be part of this national network—and even prouder of the work we’re doing locally across Calderdale and Kirklees.

Interested in volunteering or learning more about our work?📧 Get in touch via our Facebook page or email🗓️ Join us at an upcoming drop-in or event💬 Share your ideas—we’d love to hear from you!
